URGENT ANNOUNCEMENT: CHUUK-POHNPEI CABLE SYSTEM TEMPORARY SHUTDOWN
 
FSMT Cable Corporaton (OAE) has informed FSM Telecom that the Chuuk-Pohnpei cable system will be taken out of operation temporarily on November 20 at 7AM Chuuk Time. The reason for this is to conduct testing on the East Micronesia Cable System. They anticipate the testing to take approximately 24 hours. We will update if there are any changes to the schedule.
OAE and FSMTC is taking all mitigation measures to lessen the impact on services to its valued customers and will shift all connectivity to satellite.  Chuuk users will experience slower than usual internet and possibly voice quality degradation. 
We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause.
An updated notice will be disseminated to the public when the testing is completed and the Chuuk-Pohnpei cable system is restored to normal operation.
